As of July 2014, the board has funded the following organizations in line with our new strategic focus:

Assistance League of Austin: to support student success at Austin Community College through financial aid Sooch Scholarships and the ongoing support of one-to-one mentorships.

Austin Area Urban League: to expand the Essential Office Skills Academy and provide computer training, industry credentials, and job placement assistance to adults with barriers to employment.

Austin Can Academy: to pilot a cohort of students earning their Certified Nurse Assistant credential in partnership with Austin Community College, while simultaneously earning a high school degree from an alternative campus focused on those who have struggled in traditional school settings.

Austin Opportunity Youth Collaborative: As a local funding match for a city-wide collaborative focused on reconnecting local youth aged 16-24 with effective employment and education pathways, this grant specifically supports the expansion of the Youth Employment Partnership program.

Austin Partners in Education: to expand high-frequency College Readiness tutoring model to underclassmen at AISD’s Reagan High School, with goal of qualifying more students for enrollment in dual-credit ACC coursework.

Bridge to College Success: A part of the CAMP program at St. Edward’s University, these writing workshops focus on advancing entering students academically so they are prepared to succeed in credit-earning coursework.

Economic Growth Business Incubator: to support an entrepreneurial business curriculum for historically economically disadvantaged community members, providing them tools to establish and grow emerging and existing businesses through education, business plan assistance, and consulting.

English at Work/ Literacy Coalition of Central Texas: to provide customized English instruction to LEP employees at local Austin businesses, with the goal of increasing language and employment skills as well as employer satisfaction, retention, and promotion.

LifeWorks: to provide the lead gift for the East Austin Family and Resource Center, providing a myriad of services to move families from crisis to safety and success, including multiple levels of language instruction.

Reagan Early College High School: to fund AVID professional development for teachers, expanding critical-thinking framework campus-wide to support the Early College High School model on this AISD campus.

Si Se Puede Learning Center: to support Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction as part of a two-generation family literacy model.

The Success Project: A collaboration between Foundation Communities and Austin Community College, this initiative offers extensive support and coordinated academic and financial services to at-risk ACC students in order to improve retention and completion of a program of study.
